Susan D. Grancio
Quiltmaker
Teacher of Quilting
Love for and exploration of various needle arts from my early years led me to choose quilting as my creative medium over thirty years ago. Designing and making quilts of all types, from traditional to contemporary, pieced and appliquéd, engaged me while I pursued formal education and a first career as a nurse educator. Since 1997, I have worked full-time at quilt making and have taught quilting to interested adults and children of all skill levels in a variety of settings.
My quilt making style continues to evolve as I explore techniques and methods of creating images on cloth. I make many quilts that I offer for sale - both original art quilts and colorful and cuddly quilts intended to be used as throws or special gifts for young people. I also work closely with clients to develop and execute original quilts that represent their special memories of events, people and places.
When teaching, I particularly enjoy helping beginners learn to master quilting techniques and develop their own style. Working with more advanced quilters challenges me to help them develop both their creativity and technical competencies so that their ability to express themselves through quilting is enhanced.
